EPA Lead and Copper Rule Improvements Final Rule

On October 8th, 2024, the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), mandating that all drinking water systems identify and replace lead service lines over the next ten years. Copper and plastic service lines are not included in this mandate.

The EPA’s LCRI requires municipalities to inform families and businesses of the possibility of lead or galvanized contaminants from their water service line, the potential health effects and steps to reduce exposure. To begin this process, the Village of Ansley employees will post notices concerning the property’s water supply (service) line on the front doors of water customers with potential risk. Notices may identify the type of service line on the property or state it has yet to be determined.

EPA Grant funding is being made available to replace lines over the next ten years.

Please follow the steps outlined in your notice until funds become available to replace lead and galvanized supply lines.

For more information, visit the websites identified in your notice and Planning and Conducting Lead Service Line Replacement | US EPA.

The Village’s wells and water supply are safe, and the most recent Water Quality Report can be found here: https://ansleyne.com/village-of-ansley-water-quality-report/
