FROM THE VILLAGE – In accordance with a mandate from the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) and the EPA, in order to remain in compliance with our water system operating permit, and with the new Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR), public water systems (PWS) must develop a Lead Service Line Inventory. The inventory must then be submitted to NDEE by October 16, 2024.

What does this mean to customers of Ansley’s water system? It means that each household and business will receive an inventory that must be completed and returned to the Village. The Village will then compile the information for each location and submit the completed inventory to NDEE by the October 16, 2024 deadline.

The Village will soon be mailing out the inventory to each customer of the water system. It is a colored sheet showing you how to determine if your service line is a lead service line, copper, galvanized steel, or plastic. The graphics and tips are very good but if you have any questions Dallas can help you make the determination, and Mike Ferguson has agreed to help on this project. The survey also includes some general information asking for your name, property address, year the house was built (if you know), and of course your determination of the service line material. Every service line location must be accounted for.

We are required to have 100% compliance on this survey, so please don’t put it aside to complete on “another day” or possibly lose the form. The Village is only going to do one mass mailing of the survey because of the expense, so if all forms are not received it will require going door-to-door to gather the information. Completed surveys can be left at the Village Office, put in the Village drop box, scanned and emailed to the village at: villageofansley@nctc.net, or returned by regular mail.

If the inventory of our system is not submitted timely to NDEE, the violation will be sent to EPA for enforcement. This is another unfunded mandate, but compliance is not optional. We are starting early to allow time to gather and compile all the information. The Village will appreciate your timely response and cooperation. Please direct any questions to Dallas at 935-1400.
